@johnchandler Primarily they need to be functional in contexts that are used on a regular basis. For example, I always make use of the weather widget on my phone when going out, as well as the clock when setting my automatic watches. We'll see how it works out on the Mac over time.
I still remember how useful and elegant widgets were on Windows Vista 13 years ago, especially the clear ones. I'll see if I can dig up a screenshot from back then.
